Super Genius presents a new crossover in its WWE Superstars series. Over the course of four issues they will show legendary wrestlers pitted against the contemporary stars of the WWE. They’re calling it the “WWE’s Secret Wars” but it reminds me more of those classic “What If” stories that showed the team-ups and battles you dreamed of but knew couldn’t happen in the regular continuity.

NEW WWE STORYLINE PITS SUPERSTARS AGAINST LEGENDS
STORY ARC DESCRIBED AS “WWE’S SECRET WARS” FEATURES ULTIMATE WARRIOR VS. JOHN CENA, HULK HOGAN VS. “STONE COLD” STEVE AUSTIN AND OTHER DREAM MATCH-UPS
NEW YORK, NY: This fall, a battle royal of epic proportions will hit the WWE Universe!
Kicking off in October with WWE SUPERSTARS #9, Super Genius is proud to present “Legends” — the ultimate WWE crossover event. Spanning four issues in the pages of WWE SUPERSTARS, “Legends” will see WWE Superstars of today match up against the Legends of the past in explosive battles that will defy the comic book and wrestling genres.
Created by New York Times #1 best-selling author and three-time WWE Champion Mick Foley (R.P.M.) and written by rising star Shane Riches (AFFLICTED) with art by fan-favorite Paris Cullins (BLUE DEVIL), “Legends” will be a monumental crossover featuring the greatest villains and heroes from the WWE’s past and present forced to wage war against each other in constant mayhem across a myriad of bizarre battlefields.
“We’ve been very fortunate with WWE SUPERSTARS to take the WWE Universe to fun and exciting environments they could never get through their TVs, but this is by far the biggest story arc yet,” Riches teased. “It’s going to be crazy. ‘Legends’ is an awesome opportunity for us to work in the greatest WWE Superstars of all time into one mayhem-fueled, epic story.”
Super Genius promises there will be no holds barred in the chaos as “Legends” features a literal who’s who of WWE Superstars: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Daniel Bryan. Hulk Hogan. Randy Orton. The Rock. John Cena. The Road Warriors. Jake “The Snake” Roberts. And many, many more.
“We all love to fantasize about who would win dream matches, like say between Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. Or Roddy Piper versus the Rock,” hinted Riches. “With ‘Legends’ we can see all these exciting dream battles. We’re trying to fit as many Superstars as possible, from the Wyatt Family to George ‘The Animal’ Steele. Whether you’re a comic book fan, a WWE fan, or both, the story will appeal to anyone who loves a big, crazy crossover where anything can happen!”
To add to the excitement, the first issue in the storyline, WWE SUPERSTARS #9 will feature variant covers by Jolyon Yates (LEGO NINJAGO) and legendary comic book artist Joe Jusko. “We wanted to make sure that this special storyline got the attention it deserved,” explained VP of Marketing Sven Larsen. “Adding variant covers by two of the best artists in the business is our way of sending a clear message to retailers & reader: This arc is not to be missed!”
The four-part ‘Legends’ storyline kicks off in WWE SUPERSTARS #9 (Diamond Order Code JUL141371) shipping to comic stores October 1st, 2014.
