Zomlings? What the Heck are Zomlings?

What the Heck are Zomlings you ask? If you go to the website you’ll see this description,

Zomlings are invading playgrounds everywhere! There are more than 100 cheeky, miniature monsters to collect and build into your own Zomlings Town. Explore the 7 different Zomlings neighbourhoods and discover characters like Ocotozom in Wacky Waters and Zomhog in Zomlings Zoo. There are even rare silver and gold Zomlings to discover and collect. Use your houses and towers to build your own Zomlings Town!

And if you’re wondering just how popular these things are check Youtube. A quick search resulted in about 14,000 videos, most of which are unboxing and toy reviews. Kids seem to really love these creepy little things. So when WhatNot Toys sent out an announcement today saying they acquired the North American rights to the Zomlings line of collectible toys all I could think was, can there be a video game, and comic far behind? My Little Pony, Lego Chima, Littlest Pet Shop, Skylanders, Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, for some reason I feel like this fits in, like this property will be the next one to get the animated series, the comic, the works. Maybe I’m wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised to see IDW listing this in solicits during 2016.

whatnotTOYS-logo_NoBGIn their press release WhatNot Toys co-founder David Brewi said “Zomlings has proven to be a huge hit with kids in Europe and we are delighted to be able to offer these hot collectible toys in the U.S.”

I’ll put it out there, comic book in the next year. Phone/tablet app as well.

*Orders are being taken now for Zomlings and WhatNot will also be showing the line at the New York Toy Fair this February 15-16, 2016.
