TWO GIRLS ONE TANK - Tank Girl #1 ~ What'cha Reading?

Tank Girl may be one of the most relaunched series ever created. The series was created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett and appeared in the première issue of the UK magazine Deadline in 1988. Martin and Hewlett went on to see their creation become a cult phenomenon, adorning posters, t-shirts, even underwear. Penguin publishing collected the strips first and after a multinational print run Dark Horse Comics acquired the rights to publish the strips, this time in color, in 1991, ’92, and ’93. They after a break they published and original graphic novel in 1995. 1995 coincidentally is also when the feature film, starring Lori Petty, Malcom McDowell, and a brunette Naomi Watts.

Since ’95 there have been around 14 different mini series and reboots from publishers such as Dark Horse, Dc’s Vertigo imprint, IDW Publishing and in around 2010 Titan got there hands on the franchise, and hasn’t let it go.

In my opinion the Titan books are the closest to what I remember seeing in my youth (yes I was around when Tank Girl first rolled onto the scene, and I was a fan.) Their love of the character and her anti-establishment nature shows in every series they produce. I’m sure this one will be just as funny, acerbic, and lovable as the ones that came before…

Here’s the first two pages released from the new series starting in May from Titan Comics.
