The Numbercruncher collection is out! Go get it!

I’ve been talking this title up for almost a full year, since I first saw the cover on the Previews Facebook page. I think it’s safe to say I’ve become a Bastard Zane fangirl in the process. So I’m here to tell you that this past Tuesday (I missed Trade Tuesday – sorry about that!), the collected Numbercruncher hit bookshelves; if you didn’t treat yourself to the individual issues – or heck, even if you did – now is your chance.

Let’s refresh your memories, courtesy of Titan:

Heaven: the ultimate bureaucracy.

At its head, not a white-haired anthropomorphic deity with a harp and a throne but a wizened, weaselling old man with bad breath and bad attitude. At his right hand, Bastard Zane, a surly civil servant with a big gun whose job it is to stop those who think they can buck karma.

And then there’s Richard Thyme: genius mathematician and a man who will do whatever it takes to defy Fate and return to his one true love – even if he is dead.

Cue a critically-acclaimed and twisted tale of reincarnation, resurrection and Karmic Accountancy! Mesmerisingly written by the superb Si Spurrier (X-Men: Legacy, Crossed: Wish You Where Here) with gorgeous art from PJ Holden (2000 AD) and colorist Jordie Bellaire (Captain Marvel, Rocketeers, Manhattan Project), this is for anyone who has ever wanted to beat the system – senseless!

Add this beauty to your collection if snark, science fiction, and surly antiheroes are a thing for you. The writing is laugh-out-loud funny and brutal, the art always makes you look deeper, because there’s just so much to see, and the characters are people you’ll take with you long after you’re done reading.

Enjoy a look at some of the art while you’re on your way to the bookstore.

About Author

Rosemary Kiladitis is a children’s librarian, a mom, and a proud fangirl/nerdgirl. She did her homework while watching reruns of the 1966 Batman series, which led to her longstanding relationship with the Bat, and she’s pretty sure that Barbara Gordon is the real reason she went to library school. She loves superheroes, supervillains, and is secretly married to Hellboy. Or Loki. She can’t remember, but it’s one of them. Roe blogs about children’s and teen books at, and you can read her 140 character ramblings on twitter @RoeSolo.
