The Iron Giant Returns!Nope not a sequel, The Iron Giant returns to theaters this September (and October) courtesy of Warner Brothers and Fathom Events.

Fathom Events and Warner Bros. are excited to bring The Iron Giant: Signature Edition to select cinemas nationwide for a special event screening on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. local time, with an encore event in select markets on Sunday, October 4 at 12:00 p.m. local time.

The Iron Giant was simply one of the best animated features of its time and it continues to be an amazing film, one I’m proud to call a favorite. It also has the distinction of being 2 time Oscar winner Brad Bird’s directorial debut!

The Iron Giant is the story of Hogarth, a young boy living in a small rural town in the late 1950’s. Hogarth happens upon a robot in the forest, a giant unearthly looking robot seemingly from outer space, and promptly befriends him. When the government comes looking for the weird something that fell from the sky, with all the usual paranoia of the late 50’s, Hogarth must find a way to protect his friend.

The script is perfect, it’s Frankenstein meets E.T. meets The Day The Earth Stood Still. The casting was inspired, Jennifer Aniston as Hogarth’s mom, Harry Connik Jr as Dean McCoppin (the beatnick who helps Hogarth), John Mahoney as the crazy army General, Christopher McDonald as Kent Mansley (the smarmy slimy government agent), and Vin Diesel as The Iron Giant (in a role so very similar to Groot). The rest of the cast is just as accomplished but it’s the cinematography really ties this movie into one that must be experienced. The visuals of not only the robot but his surroundings are just a treat.

If you haven’t seen this movie you really should and if you have? Then you know why you need to see it again.

Take everything I just said, put it together with that trailer and add to it the fact that it has two brand new added scenes. Come on, what more do you need? Make plans to be there September 30th click over to the Fathom Events page for ticket details.
