The Hex Has Been Cast!

The Hex Has Been Cast!Last week, the CW and the team behind DC’s Legends of Tomorrow announced an appearance by Jonah Hex in the show’s eleventh episode, with an option to recur.  As of this afternoon, the CW announced the role has been filled by Johnathon Schaech of That Thing You Do!, Star-Crossed  and Quantico fame.  The CW describes Hex as “A true legend of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger.  Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West.  He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for a while now, and advises the team to be extra careful when they arrive in the small town of Salvation.”

For those of you who don’t know, Salvation is the town in Texas where Jonah is caught in a battle between Sister Agatha who ran the town and a group of Apaches.  Hex has appeared in various time travel and alternate reality story lines including Hex, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Blackest Night and All-Star Western, where he encounters Booster Gold, who is the father of Rip Hunter on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.  The hype behind this show just gets stronger and stronger starting with trailers and posters of the characters, many of whom are from The Flash and Arrow, and expanding into guest stars and a behind-the-scenes special airing tonight at 9pm on The CW (check your local listings).  With the premiere airing this week, I can’t say enough about what this show is bringing to the table so far.  As for Johnathon, this photo from his Twitter page proves he’s more than ready for the role of Jonah Hex.
