The Deadpool trailer for the trailer, or trailer trailer, was released today. Featuring Ryan Reynolds in costume, he narrates the original trailer for the upcoming trailer; providing more than enough sarcastic quips, one is especially aimed at the much derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Here is the write up provided for Deadpool. And, it’s pretty spot on with the character, if I do say so myself.
When you’re stuck in a day
Just stick out your chin,
everything looks sexier in red.
Deadpool | Trailer Trailer : Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The latest trend for major motion pictures, most especially the superhero ones, utilizes a teaser for the trailer. While many fans love the teasers for the trailers (and don’t believe anyone that tells you otherwise), it’s really quite an interesting statement on fandom today. Years ago, for those awaiting the next big screen comic book movie or blockbuster, we’d first have to wait for our movie theaters to get the one-sheet. The following would be our curiosity over what might play before the movie and many times it would be the trailer that would inform us as to what’s coming next. I like this particular strategy for Deadpool as it’s quite tongue planted firmly in cheek and keeps up the tone and style of The Merc With A Mouth.
I’m thinking Ryan Reynolds has a hit with this one. Deadpool releases February 12, 2016. Please check out our other piece on the Deadpool trailer here.
Ryan Reynolds stars as the title character alongside T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character.
