After rumors started to circulate of a potential Superman spin-off series for television, DC Entertainment and Warner Horizon Television have officially announced “Krypton.” This new series, which will air on SyFy on an as of yet unannounced date, “will revolve around Superman’s grandfather as he struggles to bring hope and equality to the planet Krypton at a time when the House of El is shamed and ostracized.” (Syfy Developing Superman Prequel ‘Krypton’ with DC, David S. Goyer December 8, 2014 | 04:44PM PT)
“Krypton” will have David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg as executive producers. This may be worth noting as Goyer has long been involved with screen adaptations such as The Blade Trilogy, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel, and most recently NBC’s “Constantine.” Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time”) will be developing the teleplay on a story that both him and Goyer have written.
It’s certainly an exciting time for not only DC fans, but fans of the Man of Steel as a “Supergirl” series is in development with CBS. Let’s not forget March 2016’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” which will star Henry Cavill, reprising the role of Clark Kent from 2013’s “Man of Steel.”
