5-Minute Star Wars Stories! Perfect for your little Padawan?

5-Minute Star Wars Stories! Perfect for your little Padawan?5-Minute Star Wars Stories is collects 11 stories spanning the Star Wars Universe. These aren’t our first “5-Minute Stories” books, I’ve read the Spider-man and the Marvel Heroes books to my son over the years, but these are the best by far. It’s amazing to me that all these authors and artists different styles meld so well in this book. The stories jump around the SW universe with differing amounts of time between them, and the art changes from comic book style to children’s book and back, but the overall vibe is cohesive and enjoyable.

They picked interesting moments to include in this volume and the story titles really show it. The first 3; Race to the finish line, Yoda and the Count, The Last Adventure, written by Rebecca L. Schmidt, are set in the prequels. The next 6, Escape from Darth Vader written by Brooke Dworkin aand illustrated by Stephane Roux, Destroy the Death Star written Trey King, The Battle of Hoth written by Calliope Glass, and A Jedi, You Must Become written by Andy Schmidt and illustrated by Stephane Roux and Pilot Studio, are from episodes 4, 5, and 6. And the last 2, A Friend for Rey and Rathars on the Loose written by Elizabeth Schaefer, take place in the Force Awakens Universe. All the artwork is by Pilot Studio, except for those two stories done by Stephane Roux.

A great sampling of some of the coolest moments in the 7 films and they stayed heavy in the fan-favorite original trilogy (orig-trig?) which seems like a good idea. My 5 year old and I are really enjoying this collection and the stories are better written and much more fun to read than many of the other 5-minute books we’ve tried so far. Is it perfect for your little Padawan? I think so. And at $8 on amazon for the hard cover (and probably $8.99 at BJ’s Wholesaler or Costco) it seems like a no brainer for the parent looking to share a little Star Wars magic with their littlest fans. And aren’t we all looking for that? Aren’t we?
