Paramount Pictures, readying themselves for next week’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, have unveiled a few new peeks of the film. Courtesy of io9, we have one of the first behind the scenes look at the making of the fifth mission.
The exclusive look reveals a few more details regarding the tightly kept and secretive plot. In it, we learn that Ethan is out in the world “on a crusade” to save the IMF and world from The Syndicate. Along the way he meets Ilsa, “feminine version of Ethan Hunt”, played by Rebecca Ferguson. Possibly the most interesting for fans of the franchise is that “that sense of comradery and that sense of chaos” is only made more tense by the fact that villain Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) “is constantly eluding them.” We’ve seen a villain similar to this in M:i:III’s Owen Davian (the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman), but Harris’ Lane seems far more dangerous as The Syndicate seems to be an equal rival to that of the IMF. Matching them in resources, team members, and wit, it looks as if Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and company will have their most dangerous mission yet on July 31, 2015.
In addition to the io9 exclusive, Paramount has also unveiled a look at some of the film’s signature sequences. You can catch a glimpse of them in the videos below.
