Second Look - Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched! ~ What'cha Reading?

Second Look – Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched!

“Second Look” is my recurring series of reviews of books that you may have missed in the previous week’s releases but deserve a second glance when you’re back in your local comic shop this week.

I have to admit I am not the hardcore Army of Darkness fan many of my friends are. I’ve seen it and enjoyed it but only one time. Considering my deep and abiding love of all things Bruce Campbell this is a little odd but it’s just worked out that way. This also means I haven’t read any of the comics that have come out in the years since the films. This latest miniseries looked like fun so I decided to give it a go.

Second Look - Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched!

Ash has found himself a ladylove who appears to have more than a touch of badass to her. They are planning their wedding while also dealing with a creature known as the Faceless. The Deadites are still a problem and this creature seems to have made them even worse. There is much bloodshed and Ash has to ride off to deal with it before he gets hitched.

This was a decent jumping on point for me. Having seen the one film I was familiar enough with the backstory to not be completely lost. It also does a decent job of summarizing where we are at the beginning. Ash is an engaging character in any format so I was up for adventuring with him and his fiance seems interesting in her own right. It was well paced and had enough action to keep it interesting. The art was good and definitely made the characters and settings feel comfortable right away.

I’m giving Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched four out of five stars. It’s definitely a fun read and I can use more of those in my pull list.
