Preview/Review - The White Suits

Here it is our Preview/Review of The White Suits! Waaaay back in January I leaked some pics that Frank Barbiere had tweeted from his upcoming series The White Suits () and the response was pretty damn positive to say the least. Well this week (Feb 19th) the book hits the stands and let me tell you it is a trip!

Here’s the blurb:

Mysterious killers dressed in white, they savaged the Cold War Russian underworld—then disappeared. Now they have resurfaced in New York, leaving a trail of dead mobsters. In this bloody wake, an amnesiac and an FBI agent search for the answer to a single question: Who are the White Suits?

Issue #1 is a roller-coaster ride albeit a quick one. There’s a ton of info presented in issue one a veritable plethora of plot. The background of The White Suits, the introduction of the Amnesiac, the FBI agent, the new White Suits, and several (living and now slaughtered) mobsters. It’s good but it feels a little familiar and a little rushed. It reminded me of Polar, and oddly The Umbrella Academy. Frank and Tony weave an impressive tapestry visually, the pages use every layout technique in the book. And the colors? Man. Black and white with red can be truly arresting when used correctly, as you can see in the preview pages below…

Interesting post cold war plot, visually aggressive style, over the top violence, what’s not to love! What do you think? Gonna pick this one up?

I’m giving the 1st issue a 4 out of 5.
