Another better late than never Review! Skullkickers Vol. 1: 1000 Opas and a Dead Body TP from Image Comics

Skullkickers Vol. 1 : 1000 Opas and a Dead Body TP

I’ve got to admit I’m late to the party on this one. I’d heard of the title but hadn’t had the chance to pick it up. Even when the guys from Princeless were raving about it I told myself I’d get to it eventually. Well after chatting with Jim Zub on twitter recently about a very cool bunch of articles he’d done on his blog ( I decided it was time. I mean seriously if the guy could write such cool articles on breaking into comics and finding an artist his comics had to be worth checking out right?

Wow! I am glad I did.

Skullkickers is a fantsy adventure title featuring two gruff wisecracking bounty hunters. Their banter is quick, snarky and will make you actually chuckle, out loud. And the fight scenes are visceral, violent and a hell of a lot of fun! These two psychos kill, maim, torture but you never for a minute believe they’d do it to someone, or something, who didn’t deserve it.

Here’s a couple of panels of Shorty taking on a werewolf

Volume 1 collects issues on to five and contains the first two short stories that were featured in Image’s Popgun anthology series.

This trade [Skullkickers Vol. 1] has convinced me that this book is too much fun not to have been on my pull list. The writing, the art, the concept and characters, a true five out of five. Man have I got some catching up to do!
