Kick Ass 2 #5
Writer Mark Millar Artist John Romita Jr ICON comics & MILLARWORLD

If you haven’t read the comic, seen the movie, heard about it from a friend here’s a quick recap. David Lizewski is a geek and a loser, who sets out to become a real life superhero. His actions are publicized on the Internet and inspire others. He gets caught up with ruthless vigilantes and everything begins to unravel.

I think I’ve just read the single best issue of this comic to date. His world is in pieces, his Dad’s in prison the team has scattered gone underground to avoid being arrested, just when you think it can’t get any worse Mark Millar turns Dave’s world on its ear.
I love this series and lately I’ve felt like I’d been reading it out of habit, this issue changed that. Millar took a fairly straight forward issue and blew my mind on page 9, a twist that made me sit on the edge of my seat, pulled me right into the story and didn’t let go till the final page. If you’ve never read even a single issue of this book pick it up here it’s worth reading.
We all know Superman’s origin as well as Batman and Robin’s tragic beginnings and here in issue five of the second Kick Ass series I believe we’ve seen the beginning of David’s journey. Sometimes those with no great power(s) must shoulder great responsibility. Where will it go from here? I can’t wait to find out.

This issue was as hardcore as it gets. It isn’t the gore that gets me. It’s the visceral fear that there actually REAL consequences when someone puts on a pair of tights. Dave is being taken down a dark road on his journey here, Chuck.
