Red Sonja Takes on Asgard in Berserker! ~ What'cha Reading?

Red Sonja Takes on Asgard in Berserker!

There is almost no way this could be a more perfect one-shot Red Sonja adventure for me. Red Sonja, saving a baby polar bear from cruel Aesir warriors, and then kicking some warrior ass when they try to talk back. The only problem is, she finds herself faced with fighting this same bear, years later, when she’s taken prisoner and forced to fight in gladiatorial games. What’s the She-Devil going to do?

This book is a one-shot story, which only serves to flesh out Red Sonja’s continuing legend. I loved the writing – I’ve enjoyed Nancy A. Collins’ horror novels in the past, and her writing translates so well to the comic book format. Fritz Casas’ art does Sonja justice, with lots of movement and action and expression. And check out Joseph Michael Linsner’s cover! (Sigh… will we get a new Dawn series any time soon?)

For Red Sonja fans, this is a must-have. If you’re worried about jumping into the series without being caught up with current stories, this is the perfect entry point – it’s a one-shot, it’s easy! I give it 5/5 sword slashes. The book is out tomorrow – go get it!

About Author

Rosemary Kiladitis is a children’s librarian, a mom, and a proud fangirl/nerdgirl. She did her homework while watching reruns of the 1966 Batman series, which led to her longstanding relationship with the Bat, and she’s pretty sure that Barbara Gordon is the real reason she went to library school. She loves superheroes, supervillains, and is secretly married to Hellboy. Or Loki. She can’t remember, but it’s one of them. Roe blogs about children’s and teen books at, and you can read her 140 character ramblings on twitter @RoeSolo.
