Review Planetoid #1 – Ken Garing – Image Comics

It’s a simple premise and all the better for its simplicity. A pilot crashes into a planet, one he doesn’t recognize. He gets out alive with only his survival kit and begins to pick his way through alien the landscape searching for signs of life. And hopefully a way back home.

We’ve seen this before, movies like Bat 21, Alien Mine and a host of others. It’s the man against the unknown. So if the theme is common why is this book so good? Formulas work for a reason. Give me a believable, interesting main character, put him in a hostile unnerving environment and I’m definitely going to give it a try. Now add in the facts that this is really, really, well written. And the art is top notch, moody and rich. Here check this out…

Definitely the place you’d want to spend your summer vacation!

I don’t think I need to say anything else. If these brief glimpses at this book don’t sway you, nothing will.  5 out of 5. Nuff’ said.
