New Artists Join Dark Circle Comics’ The Black Hood

Changing artists and creative teams within a hit comic book is always a risky decision.  After so many issues, readers and fans tend to lock in to a particular look and tone.  After a change up, there’s always that possibility of alienating some of the very readers won over by the initial creative team.  One of our favorite publishers, Dark Circle Comics, announced last week that Robert Hack will be the featured artist on The Black Hood issue 8, with Greg Scott joining the series on issue 9.  While this would normally have us concerned for the direction of a series which we’ve greatly been enjoying, Dark Circle Comics and Editor Alex Segura have only made the best decisions regarding their library of characters and overall direction for the Archie Comics imprint.

“We were honored and extremely lucky to have a talent like Michael Gaydos on art for six of the first seven issues of eight The Black Hood, Robert, paired with our great series colorist, Kelly Fitzpatrick, keeps the book’s gritty, rough vibe but adds a layer of discomfort and uncertainty, which perfectly matches Duane’s brooding script.” – Dark Circle Comics Editor Alex Segura

Replacing series artist Michael Gaydos in February is Greg Scott (Sam Hill, Strange Attractors).  “Greg maintains the dark, moody tone of the first seven issues while injecting his own detailed, noir style. I think fans will be very pleased with his work and we’re excited to get a nice, long run of work out of him and Duane,” Segura added.
