The latest trailer for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” released this morning. That sentence alone should have you excited. Why? Well, Marvel’s smallest hero (and arguably D-list character) is about to become a giant at the multiplex this July. Marvel Studios, a company which could seemingly do no wrong, are three months away from releasing their first, true solo film since Captain America: The First Avenger. It’s an exciting moment as they once again bring to life one of their characters from the comic books and will be the first step in developing a new slate of heroes set to include Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel.
Marvel’s “Ant-Man” releases on July 17 of this year and starts Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. It’s an eclectic group of talent astonishingly similar to the original lineup for 2008’s “Iron Man” and the latest trailer showcases that same irreverent humor, wit, style, and panache for making a household name out of the unlikeliest of heroes. Just look at last year’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” We also have more of an understanding of the plot which revolves around stealing back Pym’s technology by having thief, and con-man Scott Lang become the Ant-Man and come to battle with Darren Cross, the new Yellowjacket. Director Peyton Reed has made no secret that the tone of “Ant-Man” will stay true to the classic caper and heist flicks of cinema and the trailer looks like the film will deliver an imaginative new take on the genre. Also, how could you not love a “Mission: Impossible” esque wire sequence that swaps Tom Cruise for an ant sized Paul Rudd? Or watching Paul Rudd as Lang communicating with ants! The movie is already a keeper for this fan.
So check out the trailer below and be sure to catch it in theaters July 17, 2015.
