Given how much I loved the first issue of this series is it any surprise that when I caught the second issue on Comixology, I immediately had to read it? Issue #2 brings back all the wonderful artwork in Issue #1 (this is an absolutely gorgeous series), and more of Nenetl’s (or Nena’s) storyline. Apparently she’s been brought back from the world of the forgotten spirits on Dia de los Muertos by Violetta, who wants to prove that she can be an exorcist apprentice like her older brother. The consequences of her action are far greater than she could predict, and the stage is set for a very exciting Issue #3—hopefully we’ll see that soon!
It’s October, you know you want something a little spooky and magical to read. The art is great, the characters are really interesting and well-defined, and I can’t wait to see how Nena’s story evolves. I give it 4.5 out of 5 Lightning Bolts.
