Check out the first tv spot for Tomb Raider!
Not more than a week after the release of the second Tomb Raider trailer, we have a tv spot for the upcoming video game film adaptation. You could check it out below:
In the :30 second tv spot “Adenture”, we get to see a little of the more heavily action oriented and stunt heavy Tomb Raider reboot directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave). If there is one aspect that is clear about Tomb Raider, it’s definitely not the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider films. The Simon West and Jan de Bont directed films depicted Lara Croft as a more super hero like figure, more akin to the video games of the time; Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider, based off of the 2013 video game reboot, grounds the iconic hero in a more real world setting.
Stay tuned to What’cha Reading for more on Tomb Raider this week, with a closer look at Walton Goggins’ villain role and a breakdown of the second trailer!
The film follows Lara Croft as she sets out on her first expedition to finish her father’s (Dominic West) research and uncover ancient secrets in order to clear his disgraced name.
MGM and Warner Bros. are co-producing the film, with MGM overseeing production. The studios acquired the rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd. Graham King is producing.
Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, and Dominic West. The film is directed by Roar Uthaug, from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Tomb Raider opens March 16, 2018.
