I was eagerly awaiting the next installment of Dynamite’s steampunk crossover mini-series, Legenderry. I loved the first one and am a big fan of many of the characters involved. Plus, hello, STEAMPUNK! Yet I was oddly unimpressed by this issue.
We pick up where we left off with Vampirella and Green Hornet helping the mysterious redhead who showed up at Vampi’s club last issue with clones in pursuit. They are working toward getting her out of town to safety and hopefully back to her sister. The path to this is not all that easy and the Green Hornet and Kato must put their talents to good use.
The problem is, that’s pretty much all that happens this issue. Yes, we get a look at the big bad but the story didn’t move much past last issue. We left Vampi behind and didn’t introduce anyone new (although next issue promises to). I want to love this comic but I want to feel like we’re going somewhere. Adventure for adventure’s sake doesn’t appeal.
Once again the art is impeccable. I love looking at the background and the details in each panel. It really gives the book the perfect feel.
I’m giving Legenderry #2 2.5 out of 5 stars. I want more progress next issue. Adventure stories should move briskly, not meander.
