Kotobukiya’s DC Comics New 52 ArtFX Shazam Figure

As Paul the Apostle wrote in his first Letter to the Corinthians 13:11, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”. However let me ask you…

Did Paul own a PS3?…

Did Paul own the entire first phase line of Kotobukiya’s DC Comics New 52 Justice League ArtFX statues (based on Jim Lee’s artwork)?…

No, he didn’t but I do! And after I completed this recent collection, I told myself that was it and I would take Paul’s advice and try to focus my finances on things a grown man would give priority to like cell phone bills, medical bills, rent. A sound plan, that is, until I walked into Midtown Comics on Fulton Street (and God how I make that mistake time and time again) and saw this baby:

Based on artwork by Gary Frank, this statue is a must have for anyone who is a fan of (borrow a phrase by Captain Marvel’s arch nemesis, Dr. Sivana) the “Big Red Cheese”. No, it doesn’t have 52 points of articulation and it’s not part of the first phase collection but it is a gorgeous piece nonetheless. I resisted the urge to pick up the Catwoman ArtFX when it came out. Unfortunately for my wallet, I didn’t put up a fight when this one hit Midtown’s shelves. My only gripe is that when placed next to the ArtFX Superman statue, it makes the Last Son of Krypton look like the last one to hit the gym.

Someone should clue Jim Lee on the benefits of high protein diet… I’m mean seriously…
