Jonesy is Coming to Spread Love!

JONESY #1 Main Cover by Caitlin Rose Boyle

No, not really. Jonesy is a high-school student who, though she only realized it recently, has the power to make anyone fall in love with anything or anyone. She hadn’t really tried to use this power until the Valentine’s Day at school pushes her over the edge. Sick of being teased for not dating she plays a prank on another student with upsetting results and when she fixes things she sends everything off in another direction. By the end of the issue she has decided she has to “teach the world a lesson.”

It’s a cute book with a Steven Universe inspired art style that’s becoming pretty common these days. I enjoyed the read, the pacing, dialog, and plot rolls along nicely and the characters are interesting. I have to admit though I didn’t love it. Jonesy is a rough character, without a lot to show for in the personality department. Maybe this is by design but I’ll have to check out the next issue to see what’s what. The language isn’t strong enough to be rated teen, the word “suck” is about as strong as it gets. Romantic love between all genders is treated normally here and that’s one of those things that make it worth the read. Check this one out, even if just to see what all the buzz is about. Pick up your copy of Jonesy #1 at your local comic shop this Wednesday February 10th.
