Is Gotham Getting Its Batgirl?

Greetings, Gothamites!  It seems Gotham news is breaking out faster than Arkham inmates lately.  According to Det. Gordon himself Ben McKenzie attending Wizard World New Orleans, there will be a lot going on the second half of the season.  He even hinted at Jim and Barbara “aren’t over.”  There will be elements of Batman mythology in the show which leads us to the biggest question the fans had:  Is the baby going to be Barbara Gordon a.ka. Batgirl? All Ben had to say was, “That is something we definitely hope to address in the life of the show.”

Gotham is such an amazing show in how it sticks so close to Batman mythology despite this period of the characters’ lives rarely being specifically covered in other variations and forms of media.  The timeline would be correct as how Barbara was always shown looking to be in her late teens or early twenties when she became Batgirl while Bruce was well established as Batman.  We’ve seen an early rendition of the Grayson family back in season one’s “The Blind Fortune Teller” so it’s only fair to give Batgirl a nod.  One thing is for certain in that we can expected a fully-loaded second half of Gotham.

Gotham returns Monday, February 29 on Fox.  Check your local listings.
