While some of us at What’cha Reading have been primarily focused on Marvel’s Daredevil for Netflix, we may have forgotten to talk about Marvel’s next offering, A.K.A. Jessica Jones. The character, created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, has her MCU debut later this year in her own 13 episode first season.
A.K.A. Jessica Jones is shaping up just as nice as Marvel’s Daredevil and features Krysten Ritter as the main character, along with Mike Colter as Power Man himself, Luke Cage! Colter will be introduced in A.K.A. Jessica Jones but will get his own series on Netflix sometime after A.K.A.
Perhaps most interestingly is that the villain Killgrave, The Purple Man will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut on this upcoming series and will be played by none other than David Tennant! Tennant is best known and widely loved as the tenth incarnation of Doctor Who. In a press release from Marvel, it has been revealed that the plot revolves Jessica Jones rebuilding her personal life and career after a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint. The series will see her working as a private detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
It should be noted that A.K.A. Jessica Jones, along with Marvel’s Daredevil will eventually build to The Defenders series on Netflix. All of these upcoming Netflix originals take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it is long been rumored that they will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2.
