Review – Grim Leaper #1 from Image’s Shadowline Comics

Grim Leaper #1
Co-Creators: Kurtis Wiebe (words) Aluisio C. Santos (pictures, colors, & letters)

New from Shadowline this month, critically acclaimed writer Kurtis J. Wiebe (Green Wake, Peter Panzerfaust) gives us GRIM LEAPER. Lou Collins, trapped in a seemingly endless loop. He keeps dying and coming back. But as a different person every time. Who are these people he becomes? Where do they go when he becomes them? Having no idea why this keeps happening he searches for a way to end this cycle and go into the light. And then she drops into his “life”, Ella is a kindred spirit and it’s love at first death!

It’s gruesome, it’s gory, it’s got a sick sense of humor. Mr. Santos treats us to some unbelievable images I mean c’mon! Can it get better than this?

Issue one was an interesting introduction to the character and the situation, I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. This could’ve been a Quantum Leap rip-off, it’s not. I can’t imagine where Mr. Wiebe is taking us in this story but with the amazing things he’s been doing with Peter Panzerfaust I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes I understand the people who only purchase trades. Waiting for next month sucks. Buy this book. 4.5 out of 5
