Greetings Gothamites!  Who else is feeling the tension build as this half of the Gotham season progresses?  It was quite an episode this week with Barbara Keane’s (Erin Richards) return to the streets of Gotham.  Naturally, the first person is she goes to Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), her former lover.  Detective Gordon says he is not interested anymore and tells her to leave.  While he has no interest in Barbara, Detective Gordon does continue to do all he can to help Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) solve the murder of his parents, Thomas and Martha after the confrontation with “Matches” Malone did not turn up any answers.

It’s amazing how fast Bruce is growing up!  As each week goes by we see his detective skills get stronger and his fear weakens.  This week, with the help of Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), he uses his father’s computer to look more into what projects Wayne Enterprises was funding and/or controlled to see if anyone within had a motive for murder.  He discovers Pinewood Farms and meets a girl named Karen (Julia Taylor Ross), who has a reptilian hand. Bruce’s compassion shows when Alfred (Sean Pertwee) threatens to kill her but he stops him.  Even Barbara shows she’s truly turned over a new leaf, at least for now, when she helps Detective Gordon get answers about who may have hired Matches.

This is episode was excellent.  Erin Richards gave a phenomenal performance as Barbara, her best since “Tonight’s The Night.” She makes an outstanding femme fatale with her looks and use of words.  Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) returned with a bang in his new suit.  The look the Gotham team gives him is new and edgy but keeps to tradition.  I look forward to seeing it again.  Speaking of returns, Dr. Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong) and Ethel Peabody (Tonya Pinkins) watch over their first successful resurrection–Theo Galavan (James Frain).  It should be fun to see how that turns out!

Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm on Fox.  Check your local listings.
