Gotham's Azrael A Familiar Face ~ What'cha Reading?

Gotham’s Azrael A Familiar Face

0

Greetings Gothamites!  A few days ago, What’cha Reading reported Azrael’s appearance on Gotham but details were scarce.  We now have word, and photo evidence, that a familiar face will be playing the role.  James Frain, yes the James Frain who played Theo Galavan, is Azrael.  Galavan is killed, or at least we thought he was, by The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in the winter finale.  It makes sense being Galavan traces his bloodline to Dumas and is linked to the Order of St. Dumas.

The costume is different from the comics but it still works as it keeps to the medieval knight look that made Azrael so identifiable.   It does not have the frills, cross and armor that the traditional look had but the mask is as close to the comics as it can get with the red symbol on the forehead.  James Frain was excellent as Galavan and I cannot wait to see him as Azrael.  The second half of the season is close at hand and from what we’ve seen and heard it is going to be exciting and action-packed.  The wrath of the villains will be felt as Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow), Dr. Hugo Strange (B.D.Wong) and now Azrael descend upon Gotham City.  Speaking of Mr. freeze, a new promo trailer was just released as well and it is excellent.  It is the first time we are seeing the GCPD actively investigating him and his crimes.  It is also the first time we see his face without the goggles, scarf and hood.  With that said, strap in Gothamites, it’s going to be a wild ride.
