The new Tomb Raider trailer debuted to significant fanfare, definitely the kind associated more with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as opposed to the Mission: Impossible films. IGN held a live screening of the trailer, with headlining star Alicia Vikander, discussing the film before its proper debut online. In the discussion about the video game series and past films starring Angelina Jolie, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander said that she was about 8 to 10 years old when the first game released. She didn’t have a Playstation, but one of her father’s friends did and it was through watching others play the game that she discovered Lara Croft. It was quite fun to learn of this as my first experience with the first Tomb Raider video game was with my cousin, Dominick. I’d watch him play the game on the first Playstation console and, taking over for him, I was never quite adept at figuring out the gaming dynamics. It was a fun time though, and my first experience with Tomb Raider is something I’ll never forget, just like the actress bringing to life the iconic adventurer.
Vikander did add that she was familiar with the first and second game, but it was the 2007 anniversary edition game that she played.
