Diamond Select Toys Continues Ghostbusters License!

ghostbusters2016Ghostbusters is one of the most merchandised of pop-culture franchises.  Fans of the original two movies, and The Real Ghostbusters, have enjoyed collectibles based off of the four ghost-busting heroes since the late 80’s.  In 2016, the film series is still going strong and the legacy will surely continue with Paul Feig’s all-new Ghostbusters out this summer.  With the new film featuring an all female led team, many have wondered about what kind of collectibles we’d get, especially in lite of many debating Star Wars‘ Rey and general lack of female representation in toy form.  While writer and director Paul Feig has confirmed via his Twitter a line of action figures from Mattel, along with Lego sets, we now have official confirmation courtesy of Diamond Select Toys of a continuation of the Ghostbusters license!

Starting around the release of the film, Diamond Select will have a full assortment of Minimates mini-figures, including all four Ghostbusters, supporting cast of characters and also ghosts. Each Minimates mini-figure will measure approximately 2 inches tall, with up to 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts. A series of vinyl banks based on the main characters will start up shortly afterwards.

Diamond Select Toys’ current lines of classic film-based products will move forward with more Select-scale 7” action figures, 1:15 electronic vehicles, glassware and new Minimates mini-figures and vehicles.

The film is directed by Paul Feig and produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal. It is written by Paul Feig & Katie Dippold, based on the film “Ghostbusters” written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman.
