Listen up! – Sgt. Apone

Today is April 26th and to many nationwide, Alien Day!  Alien Day 426 is a special, one day only event we previously reported on about a month ago.  It’s day celebrating the classic film series, much like last year’s once in a lifetime Back to the Future Day.  Alamo is playing the first two films at theaters, Sigourney Weaver‘s even appearing at a New York City screening, and Diamond Select Toys even has a great day of announcements and giveaways.

Diamond Select Toys put together a really cool stop-motion animated short for their Aliens Minimates line and it easily blows ours out of the water (more on that later…) DST’s Alien Minimates animated short is from Alex Kropinak and features Ripley, Newt, Bishop, and the new deluxe sets.

Also, Diamond Select Toys were kind enough to send us their Power Loader Ellen Ripley and Alien Queen Minimates and as today is Alien Day, stay tuned for our close up and review of those fun collectibles a little later today.

If you’re looking for cool Alien and Aliens merch on this Alien Day, find your local comic shop at comicshoplocator.com! Plus check out Hastings stores for an exclusive Alien bank and an exclusive Minimates box set, and check Toys“R”Us for the exclusive variants in Aliens Minimates Series 2! Alien Day Brings New Animated Short, Plus New Toy Reveal!

Alien Day

It’s April 26th, which means it’s officially Alien Day! Chosen for the xenomorph’s source planetoid LV-426, today is a day to celebrate all of the films of the Aliens Quadrilogy, as well as to make some exciting announcements in the Aliens world. Right now, let’s check out some new Aliens products, new Diamond Select Minimates Aliens animation, and a new Aliens photo contest from Diamond Select Toys!

First up, we’ve got a new stop-motion animated short from Alex Kropinak, the animator behind Marvel’s What The…?!, starring the Aliens Minimates! You may remember his original Aliens Minimates animation, but this one is even more amazing! Inspired by the final act of Aliens, the short stars Ripley, Newt, Bishop and the new Deluxe Minimates sets, the Power Loader and the Alien Queen! (Note: If you have not seen Aliens, this short is spoiler-y, and you should go see Aliens! In a theater! Today!)

Next up, we’ve got a contest where you can win a sweet Alien prize pack, including Minimates, banks and other DST Aliens merch. Post your Aliens Minimates photos on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #MM426, and at the end of Alien Day we’ll pick the best one to be the winner of the pack!

Last, but not least, The second series of Toys”R”Us-exclusive Aliens Minimates recently shipped to stores, with new versions of Ripley, Drake and Apone, but we’re already putting the finishing touches on Series 3! Tying in to the Alien (1979)-centric Series 3 coming to comic shops and specialty stores, this series incudes Kane in his space suit with eggs and a translucent “phantom” Xenomorph from Alien, Lt. Gorman in his dress uniform with an attacking Alien Warrior from Aliens, and a two-pack of red and black Hiveworld Aliens, as seen in the classic Aliens: Genocide comic book mini-series!
