DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is slowly becoming TV’s hottest new superhero show. It is also generating plenty of buzz on social media and the internet for its growing list of characters. DC Comics has come up with an ingenious idea to reveal its new characters: posting screenshots of a character’s prop on Instagram then encouraging followers to use various photo filters to reveal who it belongs to.
Even though he has been revealed already, Jonah Hex (Johnathon Schaech) was the first character to have a picture to reveal. Everyone’s favorite disfigured outlaw will make his appearance in the eleventh episode of DC’s legends of Tomorrow. For more information, click here and here.
The next new character was revealed over the weekend and his name is Hourman. For eagled-eyed viewers of the show, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) is sometimes seen with an hourglass on his desk. It makes sense because he is a time-traveler but it may have also been a clue to Hourman. The hero of the Justice Society takes a drugged called Miraclo which gives him powers for an hour at a time, hence his name. He is an android from the 853rd Century who travels through time but stays in the present so he can learn what it’s like to be human.
Not to be confused with his Marvel counterpart of the same name, this Sandman uses a gun filled with sleeping gas to take down criminals. Wesley Dodd is the founding member of the Justice Society of America wearing his green suit, gas mask and fedora. He also uses sand and a blowtorch to quickly build walls.
Abigail Mathilda “Ma” Hunkel is a working mother who is inspired to fight crime by her son’s love of the Green Lantern. She wears a pot on her head as part of her costume and adopts the identity of Red Tornado. A mishap on her way to apply for membership to the Justice Society of America leaves her disappointed but she is later named an honorary member.
The latest hero revealed is Sgt. Franklin “Frank” John Rock. Rock is a World War II combat veteran who was part of “Easy Company” in the European Theater of the war. There are various versions of his story, some have him dying in the war and others have him surviving and moving on to other positions.
