I skipped Colder #1 based solely on the cover. That is how most people actually judge a book isn’t it? It was just a little too disturbing…

Sometimes an image just evokes such a primal reaction it stops me in my tracks. Well when I noticed that issue #2 was coming out December 5th I decided to give the series a shot. Issue 1 sets the scene, taking us back to an asylum in 1941. It’s the site of a horrendous accident, it’s during that accident that we meet Declan Thomas. A patient at the asylum he contracts an odd condition, his body temperature keeps dropping, and dropping, and dropping. Who or what has caused this sickness? And what will happen when he once again takes control of his life….

Coming in December (5th) we have issue two which really moves the story forward quickly. It leaves many questions from issue one still unanswered and even adds a few new ones. This is shaping up to be a hell of a series!

Now that Reece and Declan are investigating his condition could they be attracting the attention of something evil? There’s a demonic presence preying people’s madness. Can they figure out what’s going on before Declan becomes the next victim?

If all this had gotten you interested why not pop on over to Paul Tobin’s little corner of insanity on the web, www.paultobin.net. He talks about “Colder” and shares some images from and insights into the book.

* The line “And Colder is both about insanity, and also a bit insane.” is a quote from Paul Tobin’s site.

My opinion? Don’t wait for the trade! Find issue one, pre-order issue two from your local comic shop! This strangely compelling series is definitely one not to miss!
