Daredevil Drops Fresh Look at New Costumes

Spring is finally here and with it comes new beginnings and more importantly, new seasons of our favorite shows. We’re already done binging through the fourth season of beloved political thriller House of Cards, and we’re ready for the next show to barrel through. That means new Daredevil! We’re less than two weeks out from the premiere of the second season of Marvel’s well-received Netflix original series, and more details about some of this season’s new characters are rolling down the pipe.

We’ve known for a while that season two would mark the first small screen appearances of the Punisher (played by The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal) and Elektra (Elodie Yung of G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as they go up against the titular Daredevil (Charlie Cox) but there have been more than a few questions as to how these classic characters would be portrayed. Now we have a more detailed glance of what the new heroes will be wearing during their debuts.

The show tweeted out an image showing the new costumes and put up billboards showing the trinity of heroes, making for the best glance we’ve had at characters yet. The Punisher looks much like we’ve grown accustomed to seeing Frank Castle with his trademark skull complemented with a black leather duster that the characters from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would probably fight over. Meanwhile, Elektra is sporting a sleek, black-and-red ninja outfit complete with facemask that’s reminiscent of Silk’s costume from the Spider-Man universe.

The first season spent its time with the slow burn as it built up the origins and motivations behind Daredevil. It wasn’t until the very end that we finally saw the hero throw on his iconic red suit. We’re hoping that the show won’t make us wait for Elektra and Punisher to make their appearances because Matt Murdock is going to need all the help he can get taking on the Kingpin of crime (masterfully portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio). Either way, we’re looking forward to seeing these characters re-introduced to the Marvel Universe after their somewhat disastrous big screen outings that are probably best left forgotten.

With the start of the new season in sight in also has us wondering if Marvel will ever realize our hopes for a new Daredevil video game. Comic Book Resources reports that the upcoming new season has resulted in a new set of alternate costumes for Daredevil, Elektra and Punisher in mobile action-RPG Marvel Heroes 2016. Daredevil and Elektra have received other gaming treatments with slot-themed casual titles based on the characters available at Gala Bingo’s online platform. These games encourage players to match up their favorite heroes and villains along with some of their trademark weapons. Of course, what we really want is an Arkham Knight or Assassin’s Creed style title. When you think about it, that approach could translate well to The Man Without Fear’s unique skill set and we could see it being a big hit. But we guess beggars can’t be choosers, and we’re honestly just pleased that the show is as good as it is.

Season 2 of Daredevil premieres exclusively on Netflix on March 18, 2016 with the whole season available from the get go. We’re excited to see what happens when Hell’s Kitchen turns out not to be big enough for these three iconic characters and only hope that everyone can survive the forthcoming fallout.
