This October (2015) Action Lab is bringing back one of their original writers, with a project all his own. Dave Dwonch has been really good writing comics for quite a while. I first ran into his work as a colorist/letterer in Fractures (Action Labs Entertainment’s Fracture Volume One Now Available For Pre-Order! What’cha Reading January 7, 2012), during his stint as Action Lab’s art director. But what really caught my eye was his mini series Double-Jumpers (Preview – Double Jumpers #1 – Here it comes! May 30th at a Comic Shop near you! What’cha Reading May 2, 2012) A story about computer programmers sucked into their own game. It was a great concept, and the writing (as well as the art by Bill Blankenship) was worth a second look, it was a really great mini series.
Dave worked on some other projects, including co-writing Vamplets, and then in April of 2014 he launched the Cyrus Perkins kickstarter. Knowing his work as I did it was a no brainer, I jumped right in and pledged for a copy of the book. Needless to say I wasn’t disappointed.
Now the problem with kickstarters is often if you miss the campaign you miss the comic. Not so gentle reader! This book was impressive enough that Dave’s old company, Action Lab, has decided to distribute it!

Once again Dave has found a great concept, this time in the “haunted taxi”, and he writes a compelling script that by stories end you really hope the kickstarter promise of “a new series” turns out to be true. Anna Lencioni’s art is wonderful, a storyboard, comic book, and animation artist whose style and talent are evident on every page. If you missed this book’s kickstarter you really need to stop by your local comic shop and order this one. Use diamond order code AUG150935, it will arrive in stores October 28th, 2015. I give Cyrus Perkins 4.5 out of 5 stars
