ComixTribe takes Tyler James’ The Red Ten to Kickstarter!

I am so excited about this news – Tyler James, creator of the Agatha Christie-inspired superhero series, The Red Ten, is taking his project to Kickstarter! I just backed this project, and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I only wish I hadn’t missed out on the Early Backers Bonus, offering a signed mini-print!

I first reviewed The Red Ten back in October of last year (I also reviewed James’ supervillain title, Oxymoron), and immediately fell in love with the concept. It’s Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians/And Then There Were None, but with superheroes – and these superheroes are in trouble. FOR REAL.

Needless to say, I was thrilled when Chuck, our editor monkey, sent this email my way:

Tyler James, Cesar Feliciano, and ComixTribe have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a limited hardcover print run of THE RED TEN Volume 1.

THE RED TEN is a superhero re-imagining of Agatha Christie’s classic whodunnit “And Then There Were None.

When the world’s greatest detective is violently murdered, her corporate-backed super team and former sidekick band together to bring her killer to justice. However, the mission goes terribly wrong, and before the night is out, each of the ten “heroes” will pay dearly for past transgressions.

This hardcover volume features a new cover by CP “Talent” Wilson, III (The Stuff of Legend, Wraith), and collects the first five issue arc of the ten part series.

“THE RED TEN series has been sold out a the distributor level for some time now,” said writer and co-creator Tyler James. “A successful Kickstarter campaign will help us get the first arc back into shops, ensuring a longer shelf life for the series, as we start the second arc in June with THE RED TEN #6.”

Readers can download THE RED TEN #0, which was a FCBD book last year that introduced tens of thousands of new readers to the series, featuring artwork from a dozen amazing artists. Also included in this download is an 11-page preview of THE RED TEN #1.

The hardcover version of THE RED TEN Volume 1 is currently only available through the Kickstarter campaign. “Our diehard fans, and especially the Kickstarter audience, absolutely LOVE hardcovers. (So do I!)” said James. “This campaign will give our fans the opportunity to help us make that product happen.”

A softcover version of THE RED TEN Volume 1 Trade (APR141060) is also available for pre-order through Diamond and comic market retailers this month, as is THE RED TEN #6 (APR141059).

Folks, do yourself a favor – download the free #0 issue, and back this project. Find out more about the Kickstarter and donate here. Hey, Tyler – when are we getting an Oxymoron hardcover?

  1. Tyler, you’re the MAN! I’m so glad you hit your target, I’ve loved Red Ten from the first issue. And I was so psyched to see Oxymoron getting some digital love in the Kickstarter email!
