After certain speculation, actor Chris Pine (Star Trek, Into The Woods) has finally closed a deal that will see him join the DC Cinematic Universe. Pine, originally rumored as Steve Trevor, then as Hal Jordan for Green Lantern Corps, is back to playing Trevor.
The Wrap landed the exclusive a little while ago and has revealed “Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options, according to insiders. Steve Trevor will be no mere love interest for Gadot’s Diana Prince, as there will be plenty of action to keep him busy, though plot details remain under wraps.”
This is an exciting moment for the actor as he’s at work on the Justin Lin directed and Simon Pegg written sequel Star Trek Beyond. Chris Pine will be reprising his role as Captain James T. Kirk of the NCC-1701. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will be introduced in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice before her solo film hits theaters on June 23, 2017. Patty Jenkins is directing Wonder Woman, with Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder producing, along with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment. Jason Fuchs wrote the script.
I’m greatly looking forward to seeing Chris Pine work alongside Gal Gadot and play within the world Patty Jenkins creates. The casting of Pine seems to hint that we’ll probably get a brash and overly confident Steve Trevor which will serve as a great (and possibly comedic) balance to Wonder Woman and the amazons of Themyscira.
