Marvel Entertainment has announced that Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Trilogy) will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her debut on Netflix’s original series, A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
Following the casting of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, David Tennant as Kilgrave The Purple Man, and Rachel Taylor as Patsy Walker/Hellcat, Carrie-Ann Moss will be portraying “a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica… if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.” Other than the character description and reveal of the name Harper, not much else is known. Speculation is riding high as fans wonder if “Harper” is a smoke screen for a character with roots in the Marvel universe.
Either way, Carrie-Anne Moss is a great addition to the cast and another reason for fans to pay attention to Marvel’s slate of original programming for Netflix. Melissa Rosenberg, the executive producer/showrunner said in the press release that “throughout her career, Carrie-Anne Moss has embodied a wide range of characters in a compelling and relatable way and I have no doubt she will bring that talent to A.K.A. Jessica Jones.” Executive producer and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb went on to add that “Carrie-Anne Moss has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series.”
While filming begins soon on A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Daredevil premieres on April 10 on Netflix.
