BookExpo - The Book Professional Convention Comes to Town ~ What'cha Reading?

BookExpo – The Book Professional Convention Comes to Town

BookExpo the annual gathering of booksellers, librarians, publishers and authors was held at the Jacob Javits convention center last week.
BookExpo - The Book Professional Convention Comes to Town

While the show’s attendance was down 1% according to the organizers, it seemed quite busy and robust when I was there. There were long lines for author signings and quite a few people with their bulging bags of free books moving from booth to booth adding to their haul. The geek vibe was strong as well. Displays like this Boba Fett built with Legos were the norm:

Marvel was there as an imprint in the Disney publishing arm. DC was represented more broadly with different companies’ licenses for various characters. Such as this one,  Wonder Woman ABCs from Picture Window Books:

Boom! Studios had quite a nice booth, with lots of their titles featured, such as Tanpopo and Rust.  Image did as well, at their booth they were giving out first issues of some of their most popular titles. Unfortunately I had a bit of camnesia at both of them because I was too enthralled checking out their titles and talking to the people staffing them (especially those Boom! folks, seriously when did Boom! steal my heart?).

While I did restrain myself quite a bit from just grabbing anything that looked vaguely interesting, I did come home with a stack myself:

About Author

Mother, knitter, writer, bookseller, and geek by day but at night I revert to the 10 year old that I really am. I spend my spare time plotting world domination using an army of knitters. Got to keep the weavers in check.
