The first two episodes of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow have held up solid ratings. The show has a solid plot and excellent characters, all of whom are from either The Flash or Arrow, two of The CW’s biggest hit shows. They are recruited by time-traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) to stop the immortal villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). In last week’s episode, the team is still in 1975 when they attend the black market auction of a nuclear warhead. They meet Damien Dahrk (Neal McDonough) and find out the warhead is being sold by Vandal Savage himself. During a fight, Dr. Ray Palmer/Atom (Brandon Routh) leaves a piece of his suit behind which leads Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) to take Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson/Firestorm (Franz Drameh) to retrieve it. Atom joins Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Mick Rory/ Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) to retrieve an ancient dagger important to Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Carter Hall/Hawkman (Falk Hentschel). The mission ends in tragedy which causes the team to put their differences aside and take down Vandal Savage.
In this week’s episode “Blood Ties” directed by Dermott Downs, Rip and the team go after Vandal Savage where it hurts the most–his bank account. He and White Canary go undercover and attend an event at Savage’s bank. Captain Cold and Heat Wave convince Firestorm to take the Waverider to Central City. Dr. Stein helps Atom with a dangerous mission of his own as well. Captain Cold and Heatwave want to take out Vandal Savage but can’t seem to leave their criminal ways behind them. The duo adds their own wit and humor to the show which will make them fan favorites in no time. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is such a well-written show and it showcases the talents of Chris Fedak and Marc Guggenheim. The publicity surrounding this show is great with the various character announcements and guest stars. There is so much to look forward to.
Speaking of new characters, Dr. Mid-Nite was announced earlier this week via DC Comics on Instagram. You can see the others here. Dr. Mid-Nite is an alias taken on by Charles McNider, a surgeon who is attacked while operating on a mob witness. His eyes are severely damaged but when he sees an owl, he takes the bandages off and discovers he can see perfectly in the dark. He becomes a Justice Society of America member and uses blackout bombs to fight crime. Once more information on these character appearances becomes available, What’cha Reading will bring it to you.
