This weekend the Jacob K. Javitz Center in NYC hosted Toy Fair 2016. And Bleacher Creatures was there. Bleacher Creatures started as a line of stuffed toys representing popular sports athletes, made to resemble the athletes as closely as possible, and has now branched out into movies and television. Aside from being a pop culture and comic book fan, I am a die-hard sports fan so I couldn’t help but stop in and see what was on display. Micah, the company representative showed me so many products I hadn’t seen before.
As we walked around the booth, he explained that Bleacher Creatures has licenses covering all realms of sports (NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, European and American soccer, NCAA, WWE and NASCAR) and has new products available such as teddy bears, cheerleader dolls, pro athletes in college uniforms and Rockerz which are toys with rounded bottoms that rock when you touch them. The athlete line itself is great with a mix of current and former athletes as well as new faces and teams joining the roster. There is even a line for pro and college mascots and a line of superfans which is guys dressed in a team-colored get-ups with logos and a mask. The line is remarkable and seemingly endless which is great. No matter what team you root for or which sport you watch, there is a Bleacher Creature for you out there.
If you’re a movie and television fan, Bleacher Creatures have you covered in that department, too. The newest characters from the upcoming blockbusters Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Deadpool, and Marvel Civil War were on display and ready to either save the day or dispense mayhem. It was great to see Gotham’s Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow‘s and Arrow‘s Dr. Raymond Palmer/Atom (Brandon Routh) on display, joining other characters from hit shows such as Supergirl and The Flash. The attention to detail on these products is especially amazing when it comes to characters with tattoos and other markings such as Aquaman, The Joker and Harley Quinn. Oswald looked like Robin Lord Taylor down his hair style and his smirk.
You can find Bleacher Creatures in toy stores, sporting good stores, online and through professional team shops and arena stores. For more information, you can visit their official website, bleachercreatures.com where the products featured are available to order as well.
