Batman and Superman Get Licensed! – Licensing Expo 2015

Batman and Superman Get Licensed! - Licensing Expo 2015

Big news regarding the merchandising and licensing of March 2016’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” released during these past few days as we get closer to the Las Vegas trade show, Licensing Expo 2015.  The June 9-11 event, at the Mandalay Beach Convention Center, will now have all eyes on the expo as news regarding comic and movie fans most anticipated of character merchandise will surely be revealed.  With that said, What’ca Reading proudly presents some exciting and new tidbits regarding “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, “Suicide Squad”, and the rest of WB/DC’s exciting lineup of licensed merchandise!

Ahead of this week’s event, Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced their lineup of what they will have showcased at Licensing Expo.  Of course, their two biggest, most anticipated and promising of licenses include that of Zack Snyder’s follow up to 2013’s “Man of Steel” and David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” featuring Will Smith as Deadshot, the big screen debut of Harley Quinn as played by Margot Robbie, and the 3rd theatrical outing for The Joker – now played by Jared Leto.  The full press release promises the usual assortment of merchandise including new collectibles by Mattel, LEGO, Rubie’s, Converse, and more.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway, for me at least, is the announcement of Mattel’s Movie Master line of action figures geared towards the adult collector.  The line of Mattel Movie Masters debuted in the summer of 2008 for “The Dark Knight” and has continued on with 2013’s “Man of Steel.”  To date, the Movie Masters line has included figures from “The Dark Knight Trilogy”, “Green Lantern”, “Superman The Movie”, “Superman II”, and “Ghostbusters.”  They have offered excellently sculpted and detailed figures that have featured characters such as Batman Begins Henri Ducard/Ra’s Al Ghul, Green Lantern‘s Hector Hammond, and Man of Steel‘s Faora-Ul.  On a side note, I happily own the entire collection of their “Man of Steel” line and cannot wait to see their lineup for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”  Fingers crossed for a Jesse Eisenberg Lex figure, along with one for Halt and Catch Fire‘s Scoot McNairy, as fans speculate him to be playing either John Corben a.k.a. Metallo or Jimmy Olsen.

Alongside the WBCP announcement, JAKKS Pacific released today the announcement that they have secured the licensing agreement with WBCP for a line of toys based off of not only “Batman v. Superman”, but a renewal of their multi-category license for DC Comics.  Here comes more of their now classic, giant-size figures standing at an impressive 31″ inches.  We could only hope for a giant-size Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot.

Stay tuned for more information.
