June 29th Dark Horse will release the second volume of the all new Barb Wire comic, Barb Wire Book 2 HOTWIRED. This Barb Wire isn’t a comic book version of the movie character played in the 90’s by Pamela Anderson. Sure she’s a tough, sexy, somewhat over sexualized bounty hunter who just so happens to also own a dive bar/ night club. But the similarities might just end there.
Less Titillation, More Action!
In the hands of so many other companies and creative teams this would be a T&A book, long on cheesecake and short on story. In the hands of Chris Warner, Patrick Olliffe, and Dark Horse we get a fun, well paced, hard-core action comic. And they don’t use the ridiculously pouty Pamela Anderson line: “Don’t Call Me Babe” once. Nope, not even once.
Just like in the film Barb Wire is a bounty hunter in Steel Harbor, she still owns a dive bar, but these days she has a reality show camera crew following her around, documenting her adventures. And her adventures are many! In the course of performing her job as a “Bail Enforcement” officer she runs across, and through, many interesting characters. Some she has to use pepper spray and her brawling skills to pacify.
Just the facts Ma’am
But the government steps in and “requests” her to sit down and give them some information on the most dangerous man in the world. And until she can convince them she’s worth more free than locked up she’s stuck. The rest of the book takes on some very cool sci-fi overtones and even flirts with a Lawnmower Man dynamic before coming to an explosive conclusion.
If you like your bounty hunters smart sexy and tough as nails this book should have already been on your pull-list. If it wasn’t then by all means get your hands on Barb Wire book 2 HOTWIRED and catch up with the best dive-bar-owning, bounty hunting, kick ass beauty comics has to offer!
