Check out the new “Tomb Raider” movie poster featuring Academy Award winner, Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.
Since the online release of the first poster for the Alicia Vikander Tomb Raider film, I’ve been searching for it since its debut this past September. I’ve been to the movies more than four times during this time and while I’ve seen the trailer play in front of Murder on the Orient Express and Justice League, I’ve never seen the 27 x 40 poster adorning any of the walls at an AMC or Regal theater. During my periodic eBay searches in hopes of being able to purchase the poster, I finally came across what I believe I can substantiate as an official poster – and one that has not yet been seen!
Have a look below:
The quality and image looks too sharp to be a well conceived fan edit, along with the fact that the poster is a traditional double-sided theatrical poster; not to mention that while writing this, the poster has been listed by additional sellers.
It’s interesting to see the poster go in a different direction than the now seemingly online only poster. While the first poster saw Alicia Vikander receive praise for her “mad muscles,” it wasn’t as warmly received with many criticizing the photo-shop job.
Just as it makes sense to have the trailer attached to films playing now, it’s fitting that the theatrical one-sheet would start appearing in theaters right before the major release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With its March release, we’re only three months out from seeing the big-screen reboot of the Tomb Raider film franchise.
What are your thoughts on the new Tomb Raider poster? Do you prefer the original? Or do you like the new poster that will, hopefully, soon be seen everywhere?
The film follows Lara Croft as she sets out on her first expedition to finish her father’s (Dominic West) research and uncover ancient secrets in order to clear his disgraced name.
MGM and Warner Bros. are co-producing the film, with MGM overseeing production. The studios acquired the rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd. Graham King is producing.
Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, and Dominic West. The film is directed by Roar Uthaug, from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Tomb Raider opens March 16, 2018.
