Wow! What a really fun book! Agents is a fantasy/comedy  starring Dervish McCallahan, a 300 year old wizard trapped in the body of an 8-year-old boy and armed with magic bagpipes – yes magic bagpipes, and Princess Anpaytoo a beautiful Native American sorceress warrior from another dimension.

Go back, read that again… Got it? Ok..

Formerly seen in volume 3 and 4 of Popgun anthology from Image Comics Knave and Kirkbride originally conceived the story as “something short, six or so pages. The idea was to be perfectly silly and yet still also tell a good adventure tale.” Well gentlemen, mission accomplished. Our heroes battle evil clowns, frigid beasts and a madman in possession of “the blender of souls” all while quipping and flirting (ok the flirting is definitely one-sided). The art is tight! Matteo Scalera (who has worked on Incorruptible, Starborn and a bunch of different Deadpool books) uses a cartoonish style here that really plays well with the story, the art is beautiful without being too heavey or serious.

Adam P. Knave (writer of comics and fiction as well as webcomics and essays)and D.J. Kirkbride (editor and contributing writer for Popgun anthologies from Image Comics) craft a deft story full of action and sorcery that starts at and keeps a great pace.

This book is being offered now this week on thwipster (, go check it out! I’ve read it, loved it and I’m spreading the word, you do the same ok? (While it’s no longer being offered for free indyplanet has it for .99 cents! Go get it!
